Publishing consultancy

Working with publishers, Science Academies and other producers of research information we advise and support their publishing operations.

Examples of work that we undertake include the following:

List management

Working with the CTA, Netherlands, we provided support for two of their book series. Services included managing technical contracts including co-publishing agreements with partners; providing comments on materials and advice on material collation and content; ensuring quality control of final product from partners; liaising with production and distribution teams

Evaluation and advice on strategic and operational plans

We provided support to the Science Academy of South Africa to help them implement their support for scholarly publishing within the country. Services included facilitating workshops for publishers and editors, commenting on strategy document and advising on implementation plan.

Working with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) we evaluated their copublishing operation, and provided advice about potential publishing partners for their works.

Facilitated meetings

Working with Skillset we ran a series of focus groups with publishers in trade book publishing, academic and scholarly publishing, magazines, dateabases and newspapers to ascertain skill and training needs within the UK industry. Following these meetings we prepared a comprehensive report on the skill needs within the UK publishing industry which will be used to develop adequate resource support for this sector.
